I did it. I broke my own rule. I made myself promise months ago that I would not allow myself to start any wedding planning or daydreaming until we were officially engaged.
But I spent two hours in the Wedding Planning section of Barnes and Noble today. It was amazing! So exhilarating and exciting, and productive and dreamy...and fun :)
I know that the days ahead will pass too quickly. I won't have time to accomplish everything I'll need to! Ideally, I would spend Christmas Break planning and preparing, but it's looking pretty busy! Our last day of finals is December 14th, we are going to Bianca's to make tamales on the 15th, the 16th is our first anniversary, we fly out to Kansas at 7am on the 17th, spend the week there and fly back on the 21st so that we can attend Gramma's big family Christmas party on the 22nd. Then I have two whole days of lovely unplannedness (so far, at least!) and then there is Christmas! The day after Christmas, my family and Jesse and I are heading up to Tahoe for a week in the snow, and then I'm back to work on January 2nd, which means Jesse and I will have to leave the mountains early to get back in time. My goodness!
But I had so much fun. So many good ideas on special touches for the wedding, or required things that I didn't even think about (blood tests? ick!). I bought two books that are expressly written to help you save money on a wedding (which will be wonderful! I'm leaving one of them with Mom to do as she will). Then I bought a book called "The Engaged Groom" for Jesse (it came with high reviews, and I thought it would be a fun read for our plane ride to Kansas!), and one for me titled "Bride to Be." I'm half way through it already.
I guess I'd better really set a budget for this wedding before I spend it all on books at Barnes and Noble!!!
